(All objects textures are blurred because of the site's image compression, but in game they are sharp.)
First, let's look at the tools:
1 .

The harvesting level: Stone tools (It can break iron, for example)
Efficiency: 5 (between stone and iron)
Enchantment: 14 (Netherite / wooden item)
Attack damage: 3
Attack speed: 1
Durability: 200 ( stone = 131)

Requires 3 copper ingots and 2 sticks

Next, let's take a look at copper armor:
1.

Damage protection : 2 = 8% damage reduction

Requires 5 copper ingots
1.6% damage reduction / copper ingot
2.

Damage protection : 4 = 16% damage reduction

Requires 8 copper ingots
2% damage reduction / copper ingot
3.

Damage protection : 3 = 12% damage reduction
Requires 7 copper ingots
1.7% damage reduction / copper ingot
4.

Damage protection : 2 = 8% damage reduction

Requires 4 copper ingots
2% damage reduction / copper ingot
5. The complete armor :
Requires 24 copper ingot (Very easy to obtain)
44% damage reduction
In conclusion, copper is not a durable mineral, but tools and armor are easy to make, and copper is abundant.
Furthermore, vanilla copper is not suitable for making basic tools and armor.
It's a good mineral to start with, but you'll have to upgrade quickly because of its low quality.
